While
education stakeholders question the government’s willingness to serve students
who choose special combination 65, the Minister of State to the President of
Regional Administrations and Local Authorities (TAMISEMI), Mohamed Mchengerwa, declared
having planned the budget, teachers and infrastructure.
He
gave this information a day after announcing 49 new combinations in various
materials while there were only 16 before.
The
combinations are divided into seven groups and will come into effect in July
this year. The categories are social sciences, languages, business, science,
sports, art and religious education. The other day, Mchengerwa explained the
reason for introducing these clarifications, namely the implementation of the
education policy changes for the year 2024, 2023 edition and the fifth-grade
curriculum.
Once
the combinations were announced, various discussions took place among
stakeholders, with some praising them saying they opened up opportunities for
students to have a choice of specialties and others questioning the
government’s preparedness.
11000 New teachers Employment 2024
In
the stakeholders’ arguments, Minister Mchengerwa, in a major interview , said
Tanzanians should not be afraid of the implementation of the plans planned by the ministry and stakeholders,
saying Among
the strategies he mentioned is the hiring of 11,000 teachers by April this
year, which will help reduce the teacher shortage. President has already
issued work permits for about 11,000 teachers that we will hire starting next
month (April)
who will go to areas where there is a shortage of teachers in some of the
specialties that I have spoken earlier,” Mchengerwa said.
Regarding
the budget, Minister Mchengerwa said the government had already prepared and
had discussions with the World Bank (WB), which promised to help. “Now you
cannot be helped if you have not shown the area in which you want to be helped
and, as you know, we have started online courses,” he said.
Minister
Mchengerwa spoke about the use of digital technology in education to address
the shortage of students, saying that a single teacher can teach throughout the
country if online classes are closed. “A teacher is in position of teaching 100, 200, even 500 schools. In
this area, we have already defined strategies by questioning municipal
directors in budgetary areas. “One of the strategies is to ensure that there
are digital devices in our schools and we have advised every council to ensure
that they have a school to start with, where a teacher can stay in Kibaha school (coastal region) or Dodoma
and teach all schools in the country,” he said.
He
said that the tests have already been carried out and they went well and
through this method,
even students from different zones who are connected to the system see each
other. He also discussed the educational program through training that will
allow students to gain knowledge and experience. “Therefore, students
completing their studies in various colleges, degrees and diplomas means that
they will start working for the government, there will be practical training,
so there will be millions of teachers,” declaread.
